Any ecommerce entrepreneur that refuses to see the handwriting on the Facebook Wall and embrace social media marketing is going to be left behind, plain and simple.
Social media marketing and search engine marketing are intertwined to the extent that it would be hard to tell where one begins and the other ends!
Right now, at this very moment, Google is indexing the buzz about your business in real time, which means what is being said by you and/or about you online.
If you are still hesitating about leveraging the power of social media to grow your online business because you find the entire process more than a little intimidating, take heart!
There are lots of sources of FREE information and assistance available on the World Wide Web that will help you to get started.
Here are some tips to help you at least make a dent in getting started in social media networking and marketing:
- If you aren’t on Facebook, do it now! It’s free to set up a Facebook account. Once you get registered, you will have access to a slew of free applications and functions on Facebook to help you in your online business. If you are laboring under the misapprehension that Facebook is for teenyboppers and college kids, think again! People of all ages are regular Facebook users. There are millions upon millions of members, and it’s growing every day. Take advantage of the reach and scope of the Facebook community to grow your ecommerce business!
- Start a blog! Having a blog is one of the best ways to generate some free buzz about your business. Keep it updated with fresh content and encourage readers to provide their input. But don’t try to use your blog to shove your business down everyone’s throat. Instead, give readers something of value that can be passed around and shared.
- Get on Twitter and start Tweeting! Twitter is huge! Dell Computers and many other giant corporations have discovered the value of Twitter and have made astonishing growth in sales due to Twitter.
- Check out YouTube! Make a short video and get it on YouTube. People love to watch videos and who knows? Yours might be the next YouTube video to go viral. Again, don’t make a video that strictly hawks your wares and tries too hard to sell something. An instructional video that correlates with your products is fine, and if you can inject a bit of humor in there, so much the better!
All of these things are free, and you can get started immediately!
Put social media to work for you and grow your online business!
